Mar. 29th, 2023 11:13 pmToday I am grateful for:
Gorgeous weather.
A phone conversation with Trainwreck that wasn't infuriating, though when I decided to talk about Roxy (since I was not going to be asked how she was doing), all of a sudden Trainwreck was done talking.
I did manage to do some ho-hum chores. I washed the dishes, took out a big bag of recycling to the shed for storage until we make a big trip with the truck, and got another big sled full of manure out of the goat/pony pen.
I went to the barn to see River, and our lesson was...tedious.
When River and I were warming up, R noticed that River was basically tuning me out when I asked for a turn on the haunches towards me on the ground.
Okay, she WAS right that it needed to be corrected, but it ended up eating about 40 minutes of our one hour lesson.
I won't belabor this, but it was overkill.
At least she went a lot later for us, likely because she did recognize that we spent a lot of time on one thing, and we worked on the next upcoming pattern. At least that felt like useful work to me.
We did not have time to do any ridden work.
The downside of that, is that the other horses were all fed pretty much at the beginning of our lesson, and by the time I got River back to his pen, there was pretty much nothing left for him.
I need to talk to R about this, because my scheduled ride times almost always mean that River and I work while the horses are fed. It's not fair to him.
Overall, today just felt frustrating, and a lot of things that aren't THAT big a deal felt overwhelming. I am TIRED, I haven't slept enough since Roxy's surgery, and I am worn out from worrying and trying to make sure she's okay.
I came home and didn't do much else.
I learned that the Earth is the only known place in our solar system where fire occurs, and no known exoplanets have enough oxygen to allow fire to exist.
