Apr. 8th, 2023 12:20 amToday I am grateful for:
Gorgeous weather.
Roxy seems to be in a good mood. I know her incision must have hurt a lot, and now that it is mostly healed she WANTS to run around and jump and wrestle with the cats, but she's not quite ready for that.
Her incision and stitches look less horrific. The oozing and raw edges and so on are looking more like skin again.
For my Sweetie being able to have some quiet time. He is used to getting up fairly early for work, so he slept in a bit (for him) but also had a morning of just sitting in front of the computer doing nothing. Good for him.
We got some tasks done. Some clearing things away in anticipation of working on the inside window frames tomorrow.
Getting the truck and trailer ready to go to the landfill transfer tomorrow maybe. It's still all the stuff from working on the house last fall, plus some household garbage. The snow finally melted enough that we can get the trailer out.
I did some tidying in the kitchen and put the clean dishes away. I took the current kitchen garbage out to the truck, and found one or two fast things just sitting there in the yard to go as well.
I put the pony blankets back into the trailer's tack compartment since they likely are done with blankets for now.
That kind of stuff.
We went to see River, and R was in the barn washing horses. She rode a bit outside.
River did well, he was still slightly off, but better than the other day again. I still took it easy on him.
We practiced our pattern, worked on liberty circles and so on. I did ride him briefly, but just walked. We worked on better circles with less pressure from the neck rope, and the turn on the haunches (which he did well so I left it alone).
We came home and moved everything from the old freezer to the new freezer. It didn't take that long.
Then we watched "Bullet Train" which was fun, but SO FAST MOVING ALL THE TIME that it felt like it was made by and for people with zero attention span, which I suppose is what the world might be coming to. It actually felt frantic, which is too bad because it never gave you a moment to enjoy any of what was happening.
I learned that Superman's name in Hebrew is translated as Kal, meaning "voice", and El, meaning "of God." So his name literally means the voice of God. Though Superman is mostly interpreted as a Christ allegory today, the entire thing is actually based on Moses. Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster were Jewish.
The whole concept of him being sent to Earth in a small pod is meant to be like Moses being sent on the river in a basket.
