Today I am grateful for:

Warm weather that melted the slush from yesterday (though we got dark clouds again by evening).

I spoke with Trainwreck today on the phone, and she was in reasonably good spirits. She doesn't talk much now about the urgency of needing to live somewhere else, and I suspect that is because it is spring now, and moving doesn't seem like such a priority.

I have considered what I should do if she hasn't moved by this next winter. Block her calls? She will only be calling me up to talk about how she NEEDS TO MOVE and how AWFUL her life is, and how she will need help fixing her car, or her house, or her septic tank will freeze, or she won't be able to haul water, or something.

I've tried to get serious with her about her options, and they DO exist, but it takes her committing to a course of action and DOING SOMETHING.

I can tell that she is already relaxing and thinking that she's fine there now that it's warming up.

Sigh.

Then I spoke with Sister E, and that was better. She said she's going to a paint night tonight, and that sounded like fun. Also that a nephew of ours is trying to break into the media industry and has an internship doing some sports coverage (right now he's doing camera work and I think some of the voice commentary for a local team, the internship would be similar, but for a bigger team).

Then I went to see River, and have our lesson.

I'm really starting to feel stagnant in our lessons. For the last several, it feels like she's "reviewing" our work, but it's the same thing over and over again. We are demonstrating that we are performing the same movements that we also demonstrated competence with the last several lessons.

The only thing that feels like progress is that we go over what we need to work on for the current pattern that we will try to video and submit online for a virtual show. The International Liberty Association is kind of the basis for a lot of our training right now. They have pretty much one online virtual show per month, and it is a decent way for us to set goals is to pick a class or two, and train for that.

I'm considering keeping a journal and using it to show what we do in our class, and getting her to write comments, and then it will also be a way that she can see that she's been working on the same things with us over and over and over again.

She had a potential client come watch part of my lesson with River (she did ask if it was okay), and after the client came, it felt even less like a class and more of a demonstration of Liberty.

Sigh. I cannot deny for even a moment the improvement in the relationship I have with River, and in River's engagement with me and his contentment with the work and my improved horsemanship. I just don't want to get to a point where these lessons just stall and we're not doing anything new.

I came home, and because of the dark skies I put blankets back on the mares (I had taken them off earlier today) because we might get more freezing rain.

I learned that ONE PERSON owns 98% of the Island of Lanai (Hawaii).

"In June 2012, Larry Ellison, then CEO of Oracle Corporation, purchased Castle & Cooke's 98 percent share of the island for $300 million. The state and individual homeowners own the remaining 2 percent, which includes the harbor and the private homes where the 3,000 inhabitants live.[23] Ellison, who believes renewable energy must be cost-competitive with fossil fuels in order to be viable,[24] stated his intention to invest as much as $500 million to improve the island's infrastructure and create an environmentally friendly agricultural industry.[25][26] As of 2016, Ellison had spent an estimated $450 million to remodel his Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay, which reopened in April 2016 after a seven-month shutdown. In Lanai City, he built a new water-filtration system and a resort-style, Olympic-size public pool. He also refurbished the historic movie theater (built in the 1920s but mostly shut since the 1970s), turning it into a state-of-the art movie house. His second Four Seasons Resort, at Kōʻele in the mountains, was renovated and reopened as Sensei Lanaʻi in 2020.[27] Ellison also started a solar-powered hydroponic farming venture, “Sensei,” which has two 20,000-square-foot computer-monitored greenhouses, and he plans to build four more.[28][9]

Until 2020, Ellison was in negotiations to purchase the diesel-powered utility assets of the island in order to build a sustainable power system consisting of solar power and batteries.[29][9] However, it was reported in May 2020 that, while plans to transition from using fossil fuels to renewable resources continue, the talks by Ellison's company to acquire the utility had ended.[30]

That's a very good idea for helping your trainer to realize that she's repeating herself. Hugs for dealing with TW--- I know that isn't easy.
