Today I am grateful for:

Okay weather, a little cooler than the last couple of days, but not bad.

I've been taking the cone off of Roxy while she is just sitting in the house with me, and she doesn't seem to be bothering her leg. The incision is mostly healed except for a little bit where it had torn, which is still mending but almost there.

I went to see River for our lesson. The weeks feel like they're flying by right now, and it seems like only a day or two since our last lesson. Time is funny, isn't it?

I was a little early, but it was also nice not to feel rushed. I got to see the person whose lesson comes before mine for a bit, and visit with her horses (she trailers in).

We worked almost entirely on one small portion of the current pattern, but it took so long because we had to address the underlying issue, which is how to correctly use body language, the whips as a cue, and so on to get the control I need on the Liberty circles that are in the test. Not easy at all.

I hope I wasn't overly "business-like" with R today. I want to make the best use of our time.

River did well, and I feel like he was doing his best with my less than perfect requests. It's got to be tough for him to figure out what I want when I'm not very accurate or consistent yet.

We used the notebook to keep track of what I need to do. We normally do write that kind of thing down on a white board, but I often feel like there is not a lot of space for comments because everyone's comments go on it. Also, they get erased, and I want to keep track of things for long-term referral.

At least River's leg seemed better today. I didn't notice any issues.

I came home and painted for a while, and watched some "House" (which I do most nights. When my husband is home we watch movies).

I learned that hippos make their own sunscreen with a specialized sweat. The sweat looks like blood (they have since learned differently), and historically this led early physicians to think that "blood-letting" was useful in healing.
