Apr. 20th, 2023 11:52 pmToday I am grateful for:
Not bad weather. A little cool and grey, but not bad.
I just felt tired all day, though I did sleep well. Not sure what's going on with that.
I still had to do my routine chores, no way around that.
I spent some time grooming the ponies and Hollywood, as they need a lot of help getting rid of their winter coats. The ponies always shed late anyhow, and they seem to have more hair in the winter than any of the horses. I will have to have many more of these sessions before they're done.
Wonder seems to be doing fine shedding out on her own, though I have groomed her too.
This is not ordinary grooming where you go whisk out a bit of dirt and such. No. This is really working to try and get all of that long hair off, and it's all going to stick to you, and get in your mouth.
Then I spent some time raking up the old hay in the pasture where I fed Wonder all winter, we will have to either burn it or remove it.
I dumped the compost pail, washed dishes, and changed the sheets.
My Sweetie came home from his job, and he was able to pick up the mail on his way home. I ordered a new bareback pad (R wants me to use one as it protects the horse's back) and it was there. Hopefully I can try it tomorrow.
I had bought what I thought was a nice pad last year, but it doesn't sit right on River's high-ish withers, so it slides back. I guess I have to try and sell it now.
I read for a while.
I learned that genetics that improved people's chances of surviving the Black Plague now are a risk factor for developing many autoimmune disorders such as Crohn's Disease. This is the first known example of a pandemic shaping the evolution of human immunity genes.

Date: 2023-04-21 06:26 am (UTC)I've enjoyed looking at neighbouring gardens, which are bristling with new greenery and emerging flowers. Things still need to be blown clean here, and the old porch seems very difficult to get clean.
