May. 2nd, 2023 10:55 pmToday I am grateful for:
Glorious weather, though I think it's time for some rain. There are some wild fires not that far from here that won't likely stop without rainfall.
I did some raking and digging in the garden, and took some Saskatoon berries that were going bad from the freezer thaw out to the bush and buried them. Maybe they will make trees.
I also picked up a wheel barrow of pony poop and took it to the compost pile. I spent a bit more time grooming the ponies, though they STILL have tons of winter hair that isn't even loose yet.
I went to see River. His breathing is not great in the warmer months, and today was almost more like peak summer heat. I wet him down good, and let him stand in the middle of the cool barn with a breeze going through it, and that helped a fair bit.
We did our grounwork/Liberty work in the arena, and he did okay, still issues with backing from my cue behind him, and turn on the haunches to the right is back to being less than stellar.
Then I rode him in the outdoor arena, mostly moseying, but it was a lovely evening, and no mosquitoes yet.
Earl the cat was baking his little brain in front of the barn, lying on the concrete pad. It's his favorite thing to do when it's warm.
I had a nice bath when I got home.
I learned that Japan has the second highest number of adoptions (first is the U.S.), but MOST of those adoptions are older adults adopting a younger adult, often for tax reasons.
