Jul. 3rd, 2019 03:14 amNot having to be anywhere or have any appointments that require me to get up earlier than my normal sleep schedule lately. I haven't been sleeping especially well recently; my mind doesn't want to quit grinding. So, at least I haven't had the additional pressure of having to get up "early".
Good interactions with the ponies. I will likely continue handling their feet and catching them every day for quite some time, until they don't resist and everything is just ho-hum for them.
My sweetie's help in trimming the goat's feet. We do those ourselves, but it tends to take one person to hold them and another to do the trimming. The goats were all pretty good, and they really did need them done, so yay!
Getting a ton of mowing done. We haven't been able to mow much because we've had rain almost every day for the last week or so, and the grass was getting really long.
Getting the one section of fence along the driveway taken down to make room for the house tomorrow. It's from the little pasture that I let the goats and ponies into for short periods of time, so until the fence is back in place they won't get special turnout time, but such is life. I'm glad that taking the fence down went smoothly and fairly quickly.
A nice ride on River in the pasture. We did more trot poles, and some haunches in along the fence, and he did great. It's kind of fun to be working on dressage stuff while the other two horses are trying to be friendly and getting in the way a bit. I'm sure it's a good mental break for River.
For my animals in general. Yes, it can be expensive, and time-consuming to own animals, but they add a lot of depth and richness and purpose to my life.
