Today I am grateful for:

My Sweetie got up before I did to return the ditch witch to the rental place.

He picked up a set of stock gates for the end of our lane, and installed them. I'm surprised that he did that himself. The gates aren't used often, but if a horse ever gets out on our property, we can close the gates to keep them from getting out onto the road.

Also, if there is a pasture shortage, we can close off the lane area and let the horses graze it.

He had a guy come and look at our house to assess the work to do the soffits. Not the usual contractor, another guy. He'll have to get back to us on it.

It's funny, all of a sudden my husband is now seeming to see the amount of things that need doing, but it is OUTSIDE STUFF that seems to have him motivated, not finishing anything indoors. All winter the inside work has been...unmotivating?

His job site was evacuated the last few days because of the fires, so today my husband normally would have been driving to his apartment, but he can't until the fire department gives them the go ahead. He got the email today saying instead of going to the job site tomorrow, he's working out of the office in the city.

So, he was able to go with me to pottery. He didn't do anything pottery related, but I guess it was nice for him to just be there.

It was fun visiting with the others.

I tried my hand at hand building a box with a lid. No idea if it will work, but you have to start somewhere.

My Sweetie went to get groceries part way through the class so we didn't have to rush to get them afterwards.

Before pottery, we picked up some more hay cubes at the farm store, and I pet the sweet cat that lives there. We got garden seeds at Peavey Mart.

It did rain today, and it felt like an actual rain, not just a few drops. I'm very grateful for this, especially since as we were driving home, we saw a smoke plume. It looked close to our place, so we went to find the source. It was a pretty big fire, and it looked like maybe a pile of brush or a building or something big. We were going to call it in, but we were passed by a police vehicle followed by a fire truck, so it was already being addressed.

It was only about two miles away from our house, and if not for the rain, it would have been much more scary. I wonder if we will be able to find out what happened tomorrow.

Today I learned that Orca whales can imitate human speech. It's not GREAT, but the very fact that they are trying to communicate or mimic our own speech back to us is really something.
