Today I am grateful for:

Beautiful weather that I can enjoy knowing that we got lots of rain.

I wanted to do SOMETHING to start cleaning up the dining room area. Lately it's become a dumping ground. It WAS pretty tidy, then I had to pull everything away from the windows about two months ago because of the work on the inside frames, and because the frames still need more work done, nothing can go back where it was. The uncertainty made me...just leave everything in piles as long as it was away from the windows.

Stuff was mainly piled on the dining room table, so today I wanted to clear that off. It wasn't too bad, mostly it was some wind chimes and a few books.

I had started a box for things that could be donated, and I added some things to it today and went to the little thrift store that is very close to us in the village. This thrift store isn't a typical thrift store that supports a charity. It is an older woman who opened it to sell things from her own home, then she started selling things for her friends on consignment, and the money I guess goes to herself.

I'm okay with that. It's a business.

Anyhow, I came across a bag of "Stella and Dot" jewelry that I had bought about a year ago from someone on Facebook Marketplace, and you know, none of it appealed to me that much once I got looking at it. I haven't worn it. So I took that with me and we put the whole lot on consignment, as well as some earrings that were in there. I don't care too much about making $$$, but it would be nice to get something for it. We'll see if it sells.

So there. One box of stuff moved along responsibly.

From there I went to see River. A couple of people are going to a local show tomorrow, so they were washing their horse.

I wanted to ride River in the main pasture today. It's not huge, but it has some trails through the trees.

At one point he got pretty herd bound and got really upset and ran a short ways back to where the group was standing, so I spent some time working on that. I made him work where his friends were, and gave him relief when we went away from them. He did settle down enough that we could ride away from them, but he was still a bit concerned.

Well, we don't trail ride much, and he spends his whole life with that herd, so it's not surprising.

Then we worked in the outdoor arena on the ridden pattern, and at the very end did some practice on the Liberty pattern. He did pretty well overall.

I came home and wanted to try getting the lawn mower running so I could mow a bit before dark.

My Sweetie talked me through how to use the charger/starter, and it wasn't too bad.

The lawn mower did start, and I mowed for a while. I had to stop it to add more fuel, and it needed to be started with the charger again. I think that means that the battery is finished, otherwise running the mower for half an hour first should have charged it enough to start on its own.

At least I got a good start on the yard. Other years I waited too long, and the grass gets so thick and tall in this initial burst of growth that you can hardly cut it.

I have been well aware of the meaning of the word "defenestration" for quite some time, but this wikipedia page makes me feel that it is not MERELY throwing someone out of a window, but it is also a political act, and occasionally a situation of autodefenestration for a desired effect.

It's just such a fascinating read.
