May. 16th, 2023 10:39 pmToday I am grateful for:
Not a bad day weather wise. Warm but not hot. A little overcast from the smoke; this is from fires not too close, but still burning.
A fairly short phone conversation with Sister E. Just chatting about things. She's continuing to downsize in anticipation of them moving to a smaller house soon, and she's dealing with wood ticks on her horses.
Seeing some of our fruit trees flowering. There are some happy bees among the blossoms.
I made some improvements to the goat creep, as I suspect a pony was still able to reach the tub of minerals meant exclusively for the goats.
I went to see River, and worked more on just walking with him at Liberty in their pasture, but away from his friends. I want him to be relaxed and not seeking them.
We rode for a while in the outdoor arena, and while he did okay, he really seemed tuned out and not particularly responsive to cues today.
I came home and let everyone out into the pastures for a while. The goats had a lot of fun, by the looks of them play fighting.
I learned about the Hoff Crab (Kiwa Tyleri). It was named for David Hasselhoff, because this crab has hairlike structures on it's "chest" (these hairs on a crab are called setae). A type of bacteria forms colonies on these setae, which the crab ingests.
