May. 25th, 2023 10:36 pmToday I am grateful for:
More gorgeous (though not raining) weather.
Deciding to go to town today.
I found some lovely shiny things at a local seller of shiny things.
I popped into a thrift store, found some inexpensive but nicely built picture frames and a few DVDs.
I stopped in at the pottery studio to see if anything else got finished, and a bowl came back. It turned out very nicely, in overlapping shades of blue and white and green. It looks a bit beach-y.
I put some things I hope to raku fire onto the bisque cart.
I picked up a bag of dog food and most of the bedding plants I will need this year. I try to keep it reasonable, but you know, the dollar doesn't buy much for plants these days.
Went to Winner's and found two shirts that look like something my Sweetie might wear. I do not usually shop for him, as he is particular, and if he doesn't like these I can take them back. I just know that right now he only has one or two short-sleeved button shirts that he likes. Sometimes he wears them to work, or otherwise he wears them when we go to the city. They are his version of "dressing up a bit".
Then I went to get some groceries, and a few other plants at the grocery store.
I normally get lots of small tomatoes and put them in the garden, but you know, I don't have much luck with them there. I end up with a shoe box of green tomatoes at the end of the summer, and it feels like a waste of money. I lack the knack for them.
I decided to get two bigger potted tomatoes that I will keep on the deck where it is hot, and maybe that will work better.
I came home, unloaded everything, let everyone out into their bigger pastures for a while, and then pulled more dandelions for about an hour until it was dark.
I learned that the Ancient Olympics were held at least 293 times (1,169 years) consecutively — from 776 BC to 393 AD — nearly 10 times longer than the Modern Olympics have been running (since 1896).
