Today I am grateful for:

It rained in places near us. No rain directly on our property yet. Maybe I can do a little rain dance. The rain near us is still good in terms of SOMEONE will hopefully have good hay, and lower fire hazard.

I saw an ad on buy/sell where a woman was selling those pictures made out of jewelry pieces, and I contacted her to see if she was interested in a bunch of odds and ends that I had.

About a year or so ago, I bought one of those big bags of "craft jewelry" from a thrift store, and while a lot of it was very pretty, lots were just missing stones or broken, and not really fixable. There are a few things I can fix or use, so I am keeping those and selling the rest to this lady. There should be lots of useful bits for her work.

My husband says he can drop it off on his way back to work.

I am also going to dig around in my craft stuff and see if there's anything else to add. It's a good opportunity for it to be used by someone.

I got the second half of the garden tilled, and I can plant soon. I should have planted about a week ago, but it usually catches up.

I decided to do some mowing, as everything looks pretty shaggy.

I went to see River, and he and his friends were moved to another pasture with lots of good grass in it. He was very relaxed in what I am pretty sure is the equine version of a happy food coma.

Our lesson went well, we went through two patterns that might be classes we enter at the show R is doing at her place. We did okay for just run throughs today. Tweaked a few things, and pinpointed where we have some work to do.

River did his best to sleep through it.

A potential client watched us for a while, and all of us chatted about what to expect with the lessons.

When I drove home, there was one spot that it was raining so hard that I had to pull over because I couldn't run the wipers fast enough.

Yet, by the time I drove even a mile past that spot the road was dry.

Isn't rain weird?

At least it looks like those people were able to get their utility vehicle out of the ditch where the kids got stuck.

I came home and let everyone out into their pastures for a while.

I learned about the world's tallest statue which is in India. It is of Vallahbhhai Patel, a beloved statesman: "He was a senior leader of the Indian National Congress, who played a leading role in the country's struggle for independence, guiding its integration into a united, independent nation.[1] In India and elsewhere, he was often called Sardar, meaning "Chief" in Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and Persian. He acted as the Home Minister during the political integration of India and the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947.[2]"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vallabhbhai_Patel

The statue itself is ENORMOUS, and was created in part by metal donated by farmers from old machinery.

So I learned a bit about Vallahbhhai Patel, a bit about India's struggle for Independence, and about the making of this enormous monument.

Hopefully, you'll get a bit of rain soon.

After a monsoon week we've had no rain at all for a month, and no humidity! I 've made sure the newly-seeded lawn area gets watered every day, and so far there has been growth. Last year, I failed to take care of watering, which led to a mistaken belief that "no glass can grow in that area".
