Jun. 3rd, 2023 02:30 amToday I am grateful for:
Well, I think it was a beautiful day, but no rain at our place. Rain all around us recently, but not above our property.
My Sweetie did follow through on what we talked about, and picked up replacement tires for a garden cart and a circular clothing line when he went to get the hitch put onto his car.
Turns out they put the wrong hitch on his car. He ordered a specific hitch that would allow him to use his bike rack, and they put on a "standard" hitch.
So now he will have to go back to them on his NEXT set of days off, and waste another day getting them to put the correct hitch on the car. The one he needs has to be re-ordered.
We went to see River, and he was fat and sassy looking.
He did well on his groundwork/liberty work; we worked on things that would help us with the patterns R is doing for her show.
He did well on turning nicely with the neck rope, but mysteriously could not nicely turn on his haunches in one direction, like he seemed not to understand the cues. Sigh.
R was in and out and around, so we chatted with her a bit.
Today was meant to be more of an "us" day. I wanted to be able to be clean, not doing manual labor, and to wear something nice today.
After seeing River we went home and got cleaned up, and I actually got to wear a skirt and he wore something nice too. I think it's important to have a day now and then where you are not covered in filth and sweat where you clean up just so you remember how that works, and go have a date night where you leave the house and it isn't all about errands and picking up building materials.
We got to town with enough time before the movie to just walk for a while. We walked at the nice lake in town that has boardwalk paths, and down a pretty street adjacent to the lake, and then around a man-made lake nearby that had lots of geese with their fluffy babies everywhere.
Then we went to "Across the Spiderverse" which was overall really well done and interesting, but the animated graphics were at times overwhelmingly intricate/complicated/fast, and it was too long by about 45 minutes.
Then we came home, and I ended up bringing up house stuff again, but at least it didn't get heated. I really just want to get shit done.
I think we will find a way for me to take the load of stuff to the dump so that he can actually get something done on the house.
There is so much "normal maintenance" that has to be done like mowing, and cutting down saplings, and hauling away garbage, but none of that is progress on the HOUSE. I really want to see work on the HOUSE, and I need to do as much of everything else as possible.
He can do electrical work, I can't. HE can frame in walls and install flooring, I can't. I can assist him, but I don't want him coming home and doing work I can do. I want him doing the work that I CAN'T do.
I learned about a mythical medieval creature called the Bonnacon.

Date: 2023-06-03 11:27 pm (UTC)We had rain all over the city, but not in the yard. I'll have to water Gentle Hermione by hand.
Agree - it's better for you to do what you can do and spouse to do what he can.
