The remainder of Thursday, June 8
Jun. 9th, 2023 01:45 amI am grateful for:
My supportive husband.
It was pretty hot today, and not much point in trying to do much work until it cooled off in the evening.
I decided to go to town to clear my mind, and to seek zinc oxide cream for River's poor pink nose. The sunscreen I use on him doesn't seem to be protecting him enough.
First I got a simple wrap at a place in town.
Then I went to the drug store and found some, and did a bit of retail fun for myself.
Then I got some groceries, a few things that I missed last time.
I came home and let everyone out into their pastures for a while, and watered the garden again.
Things are SO dry. The garden is SO dry, even though I have been watering it. I don't know how the germination is going to go.
I mowed a bit. Most of the yard was mowed a while ago, and none of that grass is growing. I mowed the areas that didn't get done last time, and tried to clean up the long grass around the compost area.
I watered the bedding plants that still aren't planted, and the tomatoes in pots.
I came inside, and ended up doing a deeper clean of the bathroom. The kind that entailed getting the fluff from underneath the tub, and off of the top of the washer/dryer, and washing the bath mat.
Then I made jean shorts out of two pairs of my Sweetie's jeans that were just too worn to patch again on the knees. I still ended up adding reinforcing patches on one pair. He likes having these kind of shorts as work shorts.
I learned about how Homing pigeons were still being used in WWI and WWII, and that Maidenform (more widely known as the brassiere manufacturer) made special vests to protect the birds while they accompanied paratroopers to the ground.
