Jun. 18th, 2023 12:11 amToday I am grateful for:
More scattered rain, but not freezing cold. Just cool. Everything looks nice and green now.
Today I thought it might be nice to have a fun day together.
We went to the city without rigid agendas, just to enjoy the day.
We went to a lovely rock shop that I hadn't been to before, and I found some nice beads (I make jewelry, not complicated, but I like nice beads).
Then we went to the art gallery; there was a show about the Pop Art movement, and there were works from Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Takashi Murakami, Banksy, and Mr. Brainwash.
It's funny, I wouldn't have said I was a huge Pop Art fan, but in person there was something very...clean and bright about these works. I've always liked Banksy, especially because his work often has a social message. With Warhol, I've never been sure about how much work he actually put into his works. He often started from a photographic image, and half the time it was someone else in his "factory" doing the actual creating. I kind of feel that art should be more personal than that.
I know that this isn't what art is about, but even as interesting as they were to look at, I'm not sure how many I would really want displayed in my home.
Then we ate at a nice chain vegan place (the Copper Branch) which is always tasty and still good for you.
We popped into a book store, but I ended up with some DVDs (they sell those too).
I also went into an art supply store for a specific item (Yupo paper, though I haven't had great results yet).
We came home, let everyone out into their pastures, had a nap, then watched a kind of ho-hum movie called "The Good Night".
Today I learned about the most expensive house in the world. It's pretty ugly from the outside, and many of the rooms are beautiful inside, but...damn. That's pretty arrogant to live in a house like that.
