Jun. 29th, 2023 03:39 amToday I am grateful for:
There is a patch of exotic lilies in my perennial bed that didn't bloom since it was relocated four years ago when we began all the work on the house. Last year it had a few blooms, this year is blooming beautifully. It is absolutely gorgeous.
Also, some peonies are blooming, and roses.
We had a smattering of rain, and otherwise nice weather.
I pulled weeds in the garden for roughly an hour before I went to the barn.
When I went to get River in the pasture, I found five or six more of those granola bar wrappers, and I showed them to R. She was saying that her husband found more all over the property.
We are now wondering if it isn't the ravens that are nesting in the area, collecting these wrappers because of the shiny insides.
Yet, all of us have to wonder about the well-being of whomever is eating all those granola bars.
We had a lesson, and worked on the ridden equitation. It went well, and of course I've had the same issues in the past, but it's been so long since we've focused on equitation that I needed to be reminded of all of them.
River really worked for me today. We gave him lots of rest breaks, since his breathing isn't perfect (though not bad today) and we haven't ridden hard in a long time.
I came home and let everyone out for a while, and then did some painting.
I learned that the New Caledonia pine (Araucaria columnaris) leans towards the equator wherever it is on Earth, except in New Caledonia, the region where it is endemic : the farther it is from the equator, the more it tilts.
