Today I am grateful for:

Beautiful weather.

The vet came today to give Ursula (pony) a lubricating shot for her shoulder.

I mentioned that I had that shoulder x-ray ed a while ago, and he felt that an injection might help.

She had a slight limp when we got her years ago, and it was just worse this year. The vet feels that it was an injury of some kind.

It went reasonably well, so I hope this helps her to be more comfortable and mobile. She doesn't need to be sound enough for a job, just for quality of life.

I tried to nap, because I haven't been sleeping well for a couple of nights, but to no avail.

I got up and decided to try to do something productive.

Of course, there is always more grass, more weeds, so ta da, solution to wondering what to do today. Sigh.

I picked up my effort from the other day to clear the grass and weeds away from the perennial bed, and the weeds in the compost pile.

The compost pile is full of garter snakes! They are not dangerous at all, and not aggressive in any way, so I find them lovely. I looked it up, and apparently our pile of pony manure covered with a tarp is PERFECT for them, because it is moist, hot from composting, and covered. They are likely going to give birth in there (they are one of the few snakes to give live birth!).

I don't see too many frogs around this year, so it's possible they're eating them.

Then I pulled weeds and grass in another spot, and so on...you get the idea.

I did let everyone out for a while, and walked around in the horse pasture, and ended up pulling some noxious weeds.

Lotsa pulling today.

I learned that in other parts of the world that are less concerned about making tons of money from caring for the elderly and actually care about people being happy are building villages for the elderly with Dementia, so that they can live there and not wander off, but also have a stimulating life.

I don't know why this would have to be limited to those with Dementia, as I think that anyone needing more care and assistance but would still like a stimulating life would be happier living in a place like this than being closed off in a care home.

I really like garter snakes! Such friendly and helpful things.

One of my favorite things about having finished the report is that I have time to just read random things again. It's such a delightful thing to be able to read random stuff!
