Jul. 11th, 2023 01:13 amToday I am grateful for:
The palpable heaviness of the recent heat was relieved finally. We had dramatic thunder and lightening (a bit too dramatic for me), and a down pour.
It made me happy that I got so much mowing done before the rain.
That the animals were okay.
Today wasn't a fun day for me. I'm still tired because my sleep schedule is off from having to get up so early yesterday, and I was woken by the storm and couldn't fall asleep for a while.
I am just TIRED of everything looking untidy in the yard, and my husband doesn't do any of the normal maintenance on it. No mowing or taking care of the garden (sometimes he pulls weeds, but it's nothing compared to the work I put in on it), and things like pruning trees is me as well.
When he comes home, we have to focus on things he can do that require more skill, not routine weed pulling.
So, because there is still areas that are not "complete" as far as thoughtful landscaping so I can either mow it or it is mulched, everywhere I look are stands of weeds.
I'm really tired of all of my free time being taken up by onerous tasks. This isn't pulling a few little weeds out of the mulch, no. This is pulling out Canada Thistle that is almost as tall as I am, and filling wheel barrows with it, and in areas right around the house that should be "civilized" but are not.
Mulching all of this or setting it up so I can mow is not a priority of my husband's, but I am going to just start yelling until it IS a priority. I do not want to keep spending my life doing repetitive, pointless tasks like this.
Lots of unpleasantness over the phone today with him over this topic.
I tried napping, but could not because I just feel angry about the work that needs doing.
I got up and...PULLED WEEDS! Surprise!
I let everyone out for a while.
I also cut down some small shrubs that have not survived, trying to take the wood down to where I could mow over it. Branches from larger trees that are dead. Then hauled the mass into the bush where it can just break down.
I spent some time in the upstairs "wardrobe" room that has been very disorganized. It WAS pretty tidy, then because of the work on the windows last summer, things got hastily thrown in there and never organized. It just got worse over the winter as I would mull through the piles looking for things I wanted, and not cleaning up the mess.
I did fold things and put them on a shelf, and identified a few things to part with, and made some progress.
I tore up two old shirts for rags.
I am trying to get rid of things right now, as I know that the true issue is just too much stuff. It's not easy.
Just not a fun day. I spent the day angry that there was still so much that needs doing, that summer is half way over and nothing has really happened as far as the siding, fascia, soffits, that the windows inside are not finished either, that we can't seem to get any help from contractors this year, that there is so much area where the weeds have taken over, and on and on.
I learned that the Sargasso Sea is defined only by the currents that surround it, not any land mass.
"The sea is bounded on the west by the Gulf Stream, on the north by the North Atlantic Current, on the east by the Canary Current, and on the south by the North Atlantic Equatorial Current, the four together forming a clockwise-circulating system of ocean currents termed the North Atlantic Gyre. "
