Jul. 15th, 2023 12:47 amToday I am grateful for:
My husband met with the contractor from the last set of days off that kept postponing our meeting. He was able to meet this time.
My husband actually feels like this guy might be helpful; he is also the owner of an older house like ours and does not seem afraid of the job of helping with the siding/sofits.
Well, nothing is solid yet, he will give us an estimate for his potential work, and we'll go from there.
My husband and I went into town to get a big load of cardboard boxes from the recycling center (I'm using cardboard under the mulch), and then another cube of mulch.
We got s tiny bit of groceries.
Then we went to see River. It was truly too smokey to expect him to do any work at all, but I wanted to check on him and maybe do a small amount of Liberty work, which isn't too stressful.
We ended up chatting with R and her family for quite a while. Since it was very smokey, most of their normal work with the yard and horses was also suspended for the day.
We got to meet their little rescue dog, who is quite adorable. It is most likely a Shiba Inu dog, and looks like a little fox. A lot of the hair is gone from it's belly and the rest looks a bit shaggy, but he seems like a very nice little creature.
I am glad they rescued him, and I hope all goes well for them.
The small amount of work with River went okay. I did baby steps with the back from a cue from behind, and got a decent response for today. His breathing isn't too bad, which I'm grateful for.
It really was smokey today. The visibility was terrible, and it was considered to be more than a 10 on the poor air quality scale.
We came home and let everyone out into their pastures for a while.
I showed my Sweetie the garter snakes. They have been very consistent about curling up under the tarp over the pony manure compost pile.
Our raspberries are now ripening, and we ate a ton of them just standing in the patch.
Then we walked around the horse pasture for a while, I was showing him the giant mushrooms that have sprung up with all the rain we've had, and we pulled more of those noxious weeds together.
We came in and watched "Sisu", which was kind of like Finnish John Wick. It was another very violent movie, and not terribly interesting outside of that as there was very little character development or motivation.
I learned that the myth of the Seven Sisters may be as old a 100,000 years old, based on the changes of the constellation Pleides.

Our pottery studio is part of a craft center that has a weaving group and a wood working group.
