Monday, July 24
Jul. 24th, 2023 11:55 pmToday I am grateful for:
That our property did not get the huge dump of rain that others not that far away got last night.
There was a lot of lightening over our place, and some rain, but not the huge amount that some had. We are already pretty wet, so it would be okay now to dry out some of the low areas.
I went to town today to get the mail, to get cat food, and some groceries. All very useful tasks.
I also went to the thrift store in good time so that I could browse and enjoy myself, and it seems like there were a lot of really nice clothes today. It makes me wonder if Monday is a big day for re-stocking.
I found two finely knit cashmere turtlenecks, and an absolutely gorgeous silk blouse in a kind of modern retro style, all very inexpensive.
I found several DVDs that should be good entertainment.
I came home and let everyone out for a while, and I went and picked more raspberries.
The raspberries are really great this year, really big and juicy, and lots and lots of them.
The mosquitoes are vicious right now.
My husband said that he and some guys from work all went to see "Barbie", and it's kind of nice that men can do that together. He said it was a lot of fun.
I learned that Sir Winston Churchill was such a big lover of the Italian blue cheese Gorgonzola that during WW2 he forbid British troops to bomb the city of Gorgonzola and its dairies.

Date: 2023-08-16 08:35 am (UTC)They are very cold tolerant, and would probably do okay somewhere very hot if you planted them in some shade and watered them.
On the other hand, there are likely all kinds of things you can grow that we can't here. Canada has a short growing season, and very cold winters.
