Jul. 29th, 2023 03:21 amToday I am grateful for:
Nice weather. Not too hot.
Before we went to the barn, I did a bit of work towards more mulching. I let my Sweetie nap, as he's just feeling really run down today.
We went to the barn.
River started out pretty sluggish again, and I put a lot of energy into getting him moving.
We played with some ideas that I might incorporate into the freestyle. Things I can do using Liberty circles, like going over a jump or through pool noodles.
He did well with the back from behind, and better with the turn on the hind quarters.
We got the canter in our Liberty circles.
I rode for a while, working on spiraling in and out at the trot and canter to improve his balance.
We came home, let everyone out for a while, and finished mulching the area I started earlier.
Then we went out to the garden and pulled a TON of weeds.
We also picked probably another gallon of raspberries.
When we came in, we transferred frozen berries into bags, and put today's pick onto the cookie sheets.
Then we watched "First Knight", which was okay.
I learned about Gardiner's Island in New York. It was in the possession of the same family for about four hundred years, and has a very interesting history.
It also has a lot of value as bird habitat, as well as stands of white oak trees.
