Aug. 17th, 2023 03:22 amToday I am grateful for:
More very summertime weather.
We managed to get out the door in good time so we could meet a friend in town.
I have known this woman for probably about 30 years, or close to it. She was our bridesmaid.
She was in the area for a Kinsmen/Kinettes conference, and had time today to visit with us.
We went to a lovely garden that is part of the University of Alberta now. The kind of big, elaborate place that has a Japanese garden and Koi, and a big pavilion for weddings, and a rose garden. Not WAY over the top, but beautiful.
I'm really glad we decided to go there instead of just going for a meal or something. This is a much more memorable experience.
It is also significant for my Sweetie and I, as this is the garden we saw way back at nearly the beginning of our relationship. We took some pictures of us sitting on a rock by the koi pond.
Now we have gone there three times total, and have taken pictures of ourselves each time together on that same rock.
It's kind of amazing, that we weren't planning to see our friend during our Anniversary Week, but we did. Going to the garden together today was kind of perfect.
We finished up right on time so that I could go to the barn for our lesson.
River was pretty hot, so I misted him, and that helped him a lot.
We worked on our freestyle pattern, refining it and working on areas that needed improvement, and got good homework.
There were others around, and it was nice to see them too.
We came home and I let everyone out for a while, and mowed for an hour while my Sweetie made supper.
We watched more "American Gods".
I learned that Japan has a huge culture of vending machines. The ratio of machines to people is one vending machine for every 30 people.
Here is a video showing some of the machines, I am surprised at how many serve hot food.
