Today I am grateful for:

Rain today. It's nice to have rain, it breaks the heat, but again it is bad for the farmers trying to get their hay finished. We saw hay just sitting in the fields getting soaked.

We didn't do much before we went to the barn to see River because it was raining.

River does well in this weather, cooler and moist. His breathing overall has been pretty good this summer, but on cooler days he just has more pep.

We worked on our freestyle pattern, and broke it down into smaller bits to hone.

We did a bit of riding, the spirals for canter and trot, and he really put in effort for that, and I'm reasonably sure we got some collection in there. It seems like we've been chasing that Holy Grail forever. It would be nice to actually get it consistently.

R and her husband K gave us a pan of apple crisp, which was very nice of them. I think it was a way to say thank you for our willingness to help them find hay, though it turned out to not be necessary.

We came home, and it was still raining.

My Sweetie sealed the grout in the downstairs bathroom, which is not a big deal, just wiping it with the sealant.

I made supper, and we watched more "American Gods", and that was it for the day. A lot less busy than how most of this past week has been.

I learned that the Unites States Department of Defense uses the scenario of a zombie apocalypse as a training tool.
