Aug. 22nd, 2023 01:34 amToday I am grateful for:
A cooler day, so that it wasn't awful for my Sweetie to do a bit more work on installing the foam insulation on the exterior of the house.
I think it's starting to dawn on him that he needs to actually set his alarm and work an actual work day to make progress. Today he got a late start, and that only gave him a couple of hours to work.
I went to town while he worked on the house, and it was kind of nice to have a bit of time by myself. Funny, isn't it? He's at work most of the time, and I'm alone a lot. I miss him, but I get very used to managing my own time, doing things my own way, and going where I want to go without having to work with someone else. When he's home for these longer stretches, I have to get used to having another person around all the time.
It is very nice though, to have someone there at night to watch a show together. It's very cosy.
I went to Winner's and found a nice cardboard scratching thingy for the kitties.
I went to pottery, worked alone for a while, and after an hour another woman came to work as well.
I trimmed the items we threw last week, and threw a new thing today but I don't know if I like it. I'll decide after I trim it, as sometimes things can improve.
I got groceries, a pretty good sized haul as I have to make sure TWO people have food for the week. I do have a tendency to over buy, as I really don't like running low on staples. I would rather have extras in the pantry than run out. Especially in case we can't always make it for groceries on the following Monday.
It also makes sense to buy staples in multiples if they are a good price, even if you aren't "out" of it at home. If you eat a lot of one kind of granola bar, and they are on a good sale, you might as well buy two boxes because you know you'll eat them.
Then we watched some more "American Gods".
I feel like every time I turn around, I am learning some new weird thing about sloths. I already knew they were good swimmers, but today I learned that they can also hold their breath for FORTY MINUTES. Out of water, the ability to hold their breath is to avoid detection by nearby predators.
They can also breathe comfortably upside down because ligaments hold their lungs in place, whereas for something like a human, the lungs slide down somewhat when we're upside down.
