Sep. 10th, 2023 12:44 amToday I am grateful for:
Sunshine, and fairly warm.
I had to go to town today if I wanted to make the change on my driver's licence. Yesterday over the phone, the woman I spoke to made kind of a big deal over me needing to bring documents today to prove who I was in order to make a change, like my birth certificate and such. I asked her why I needed to do that when I had my current driver's licence, and she was all like "it doesn't have all the information I need".
I think she was just trying to make it difficult for me, hoping I would not bother.
Well, I did bother. It was also NO INCONVENIENCE that I could see for them just to go in, change my weight, and print out another temporary licence (the permanent one wouldn't even be printed yet, so no big deal, right?). They never asked to see any of the documents they said I needed to bring.
What a joke. In other words, had I stuck to my guns the day I was in the first time, they likely would have just changed it for me, no charge (the women that day said I would have to pay for it again if I wanted changes, the woman I talked to the next day said they would do it free of charge since it it their JOB to make sure the information is all correct).
Moving on.
I made the day in town worthwhile by picking up the wooden stakes I needed for the mulching project, I got dog food, and I got Jones's special food for urinary tract care from the vet's office.
I picked up a minuscule amount of groceries, mainly some cheese my husband said he was enjoying, and I knew we were almost out.
I came home and my Sweetie had let everyone out for a while, and I needed to nap since I got pretty much no sleep last night.
I didn't end up napping really. I tried.
I got up, and went out to see how his day's work had progressed; he had to create an edging of sorts by cutting down some trim. He got a little bit of siding up, but he also had to take down siding from the addition (it got sided last year) to make it fit better with the siding on the main part of the house, so that it is continuous.
We went for a bit of a pasture walk, since it was nice outside.
Then we came in and watched some "Schitt's Creek". This is one of those shows where you will be sad when it's done, and miss the characters.
Time is something that had to be agreed upon for space missions.
For shuttles, timing is incredibly important and there can be no discrepancy between the various coordinating parties. They have something called Mission Elapsed Time.
"The MET-clock is set to zero at the moment of liftoff and counts forward in normal days, hours, minutes, and seconds. For example, 2:03:45:18 MET means it has been 2 days, 3 hours, 45 minutes, and 18 seconds since liftoff.[1][2] MET was formerly called Ground Elapsed Time (GET) prior to the Space Shuttle."
This is so they don't have to try and figure out when it is now August 3 or if it is 2 pm or 3 pm, because of the shuttle crossing time zones during flight creating confusion. A vehicle in orbit can go around the Earth many times in one day.
The International Space Station observes Greenwich Mean Time.

Date: 2023-09-12 08:31 am (UTC)The fact that the woman I talked to over the phone INSTANTLY said "we'll change it free of charge" means that it could have been done right the first time, without me having to drive back to town to do it.
It is frustrating, and I didn't need the complication.
I'm glad though, that I stuck to it, and got my current weight on my licence. It means so much to me that I was able to lose that weight, and keep it off, and to see my old weight on my new licence would have really hurt. I deserve to have my licence reflect this personal victory.

Date: 2023-09-13 08:44 am (UTC)Since I've been able to more or less maintain my current weight for the last three or so years, it is easy to take it for granted.
It's also a battle that is never over. I TRY VERY HARD not to slip back into old habits, and you sometimes think it's okay to eat a little more here and there, but you can't.
It's not easy to sit right beside my husband as he eats a bag of chips (and I do have a few, but I shouldn't), or a bowl of ice cream, a can of soda, or some kind of dessert.
There are no prizes handed out for maintaining my weight, and you don't even get the pats on the back that you used to get when people first noticed the difference.
It's forever just as difficult, without all the little rewards.
So, me having my current weight on my licence really means something to me.
