Sep. 14th, 2023 02:53 amToday I am grateful for:
Sunny and moderate temperatures.
My husband continuing to work on the siding.
I got more horse blankets soaking in the big tub, and tossed some tomato plants and soil onto the compost pile.
I went to see River. We had a lesson today.
The head piece I made looks so good after I dyed the leather black (it was reddish). I will put it on him when we work several more times before we film so he is used to it. It doesn't seem to bother him, though.
We ran through the part of the pattern that was problematic (the right circle), and it is improving.
We need to work on our bow; he's doing better with it all the time, but I still have to use a cookie to get him to do it. If I want to use the bow for any of the online shows, they won't allow cookies.
We then took him outside to R's trailer, to practice loading. I was still organizing myself and he walked over and loaded himself!
We also tied him this time, which he did fine with. We will try actually closing the divider next time.
I came home and talked with my Sweetie; a guy interested in buying our gates that we are trying to sell was just a tire kicker. He apparently came with a trailer (as in ready to buy), but made an attempt to talk the price down (for real, the price is already dirt cheap for a pair of serviceable stock gates), and when my husband said it was a fair price and we weren't dropping it, the guy left.
Oh well. He couldn't have needed them too badly.
My Sweetie showed me the day's progress.
We came in and watched "Nightmare Alley", which was a weird title, as it didn't really reflect the story. It was about a down and out guy who "ran away with the circus", and it had a really dark, carnival circa 1930's vibe. It was actually very interesting, had a real macabre feel, and very authentic looking sets and costumes, great characters, but the ending SUCKED!
I learned that Mr. Roger's signature cardigans were all made by his mother until her death. Then, it was quite a challenge for the wardrobe department to find cardigans suitable for the show.
