Sep. 24th, 2023 12:03 amToday I am grateful for:
Pleasant and sunny today.
My Sweetie got more done on the siding. Most of the "front" of the house is sided.
I did some cleaning indoors; the dishes, washed a bathroom rug, did a bit of bathroom cleaning, took out the bathroom and kitchen garbage, tidies up the recycling.
A short phone conversation with Sister E, mostly about her trying to adapt to living in town.
I worked a little bit on mulching, I am at a point that until we can go get more cardboard I can't move ahead.
Our friends dropped by. The husband has helped us a lot with house stuff, mainly the first summer digging and building the basement. The wife is the person who talks about her own stuff and never asks about me, and talks over everyone.
It was nice to see them, and she did exactly the same thing today, mainly talking about her MIL, and trying to clear her house. The MIL is a hoarder, and is now in a care home. She apparently still thinks she might move back into her home, even though she is quite elderly and frail.
They are doing their best to empty it; it is apparently hoarded to the ceiling with garbage mixed with a small amount of "good" things. They have already taken two 14 foot dumping trailers of garbage out of there.
I guess that's what they've been doing this summer.
We talked for a while, and she did not ask me at all how I was doing, though she did wish me a happy belated birthday in between stories of random car accidents that happened likely twenty years ago, stories about her MIL, and talking about how other people we know.
I let everyone out into their pastures for a while, and while they were grazing, I mowed.
Then we came in and watched "The King's Daughter", which appropriated some historical figures, turned it into a bad fairy tale, and while it was visually beautiful and had a wonderful cast with good acting, had a very boring and annoying plot/dialogue.
I learned that Sao Paulo, Brazil, has over 40,000 buildings that count as sky scrapers (115 ft/35 M).
