Sep. 29th, 2023 02:13 amToday I am grateful for:
More pleasant Fall weather. This time of year can be quite beautiful.
Today was our day in the city.
We picked up a few things at the animal supply store.
En route to the wood stove supplier, we spotted a bead store that I haven't been to before. We had a bit of time, so we popped in. It is likely just as nice as the one that is no longer carrying beading supplies, so that is a bit of a relief. While it is never a good thing for the consumer to have less competition around (as in, it's still unfortunate whenever a store like this closes in terms of price and inventory options) at least this place does exist.
Then we went to the ONLY place still open after 4 pm that sells wood stoves. At least it was one of the main places we wanted to visit, after we looked at their inventory online last night.
We had a good, useful conversation with the owner of the business about the kind of wood stove we were interested in, installation costs, and things like regulations for clearances from walls and so on. His estimates and the price of the unit we were interested in came in at a bit higher than what we were hoping to spend, so we will look around a bit more.
I liked the one wood stove there very much, he seemed very willing to explain everything, said they would indeed install and service in our area, and did not patronize me (Generally I don't like to deal with anyone who talks only to my husband or doesn't take my questions seriously).
Then we had a bite to eat at an Indian place, and I got frustrated because we forgot the left overs. I hate wasting food.
We went to the used book store, traded in mostly DVDs that we had recently watched that we both felt were not going to be something we'd watch again (the store does have movies and CDs), and we found a couple of books.
Then we came home, and watched the last two episodes of Season One of "The Peripheral". This was a good series, and it's too bad that it doesn't look like they're making another one. I'm quite tired of them just ending a series.
This is why most of the time, I prefer to just wait until a series is DONE, and then watch it. I hate getting invested in something and having no control over whether or not I get to follow the whole story to the end.
I learned about the Tennessee Children's Home Society, which basically stole babies from poor women and sold them to people wanting to adopt (they didn't know the babies were stolen, but paid a high adoption fee).
