Today I am grateful for:

My husband continuing to make good progress on siding.

I did some vacuuming, but lately I find that something is not working well with the small vacuum; it doesn't seem to be drawing the hair into the canister anymore, it's just clogging up the intake area. It worked great when I got it last year, and only the last few times I've had this issue. There is no "fixing" it likely,as it was used when I bought it.

He was able to re-attach the light to the back door so I will have that working again for using the stairs at night.

A conversation with Trainwreck that was fairly benign.

I went to see River.

Most of our work at Liberty on the ground went well, but once again he was for whatever reason, not good at the ridden work in terms of working with the rope and communicating well.

Very discouraging.

I came home and we watched more "Breaking Bad".

I learned about Camp Century; a military base in Greenland that operated from 1959 until 1967. It was publicly said to be a scientific research station, but was actually a nuclear launch site that could survive a first strike.

It was all dug into the more or less permanent ice pack, about three kilometers of tunnel, with living quarters and also some actual research. It was powered by a nuclear reactor.

The assumption that the ice pack would remain frozen is now proving false, and the ice is releasing waste:

In 2016, a group of scientists evaluated the environmental impact and estimated that due to changing weather patterns over the next few decades, melt water could release the nuclear waste, 200,000 liters of diesel fuel,[18] a nontrivial quantity of PCBs, and 24 million liters of untreated sewage into the environment as early as the year 2090

A newer study claims that the release of waste will not begin until after 2100. Oh boy, ten more years poop-free!
