Today I am grateful for:

A beautiful warm and sunny Fall day.

A very different and interesting day with River.

I went to get him from his pasture, and everyone was SO RELAXED. The chiropractor had worked on some of them, and it showed.

I had no great agenda with River today for work, so I felt like it was nice just to be with him in the pasture for a while first, giving him scritchies.

As I was doing so, three of R's horses all decided it was siesta time, and laid down for a nap. One of them was RIGHT out, proper asleep, twitching and making little noises in a similar way to how a dog sleeps.

I just sat down and enjoyed the moment. It's not that common for a horse to lay down when a human is walking among the herd, much less stay down for a while, and three of them at the same time. Sure, it's reasonably common to see them lying down in their pasture if you are at some distance, but most of the time they will get up when you go into the pasture.

For them to actually choose to lie down while I was there, is kind of special.

I think River would have joined them, but he felt like he had to stay awake because I was there.

When I took him back to the barn to do some work together, it turns out the chiropractor was still around. he apparently does human massage and had been giving R a treatment.

He said he could work on River, even though it was late enough in the day that I thought he would have been done. I agreed, and it gave me the opportunity to see him work on River.

This too ended up being very relaxing, as we all kind of chatted and talked as he worked, and River was super chill already, and only got more so with the work. It was nice.

Then, R was talking about the Sure Foot pads we use with the horses, that are ALSO very relaxing. We went to the arena where they are kept, and showed the chiropractor how they work, using River.

Once again, it was even MORE relaxing for River.

So, I spent about two hours there today, with River being in a state of absolute bliss and peace, which was pretty cool.

I came home and made supper while my Sweetie finished up what he was doing on the siding. He didn't work for that long today, only a couple of hours, but it all counts.

We sold a pair of gates that used to be for the end of our lane that we replaced with newer stock gates. There's nothing wrong with the old ones in terms of being functional, but they are pretty beat up looking. We sold them for a very fair price.

Then we watched more "Breaking Bad".

I learned that the Apollo missions to space carried slide rules on board as back up for the on board computers.
