Today I am grateful for:

Pleasant weather, even if a little cooler.

We did a tiny bit of work outside before going to the barn. We took down some scaffolding that my husband was using, and I picked up some miscellaneous scrap lumber and put it behind the garage where we have designated an area for such things.

Then we went to the barn together (no progress on the minute amount of siding left).

R is working with a new horse that is not exactly a rescue, but kind of a "re-homing" project. He's a fairly young horse that has some issues that mean he will not be able to be the performance jumper that his owner wanted, so they are working with R to do some therapeutic work to see if he can at least be sound enough for the average rider to use. If so, then R has a couple of people in mind through her clients who might want him.

He's a big fellow, and given that he was just dropped off with R today, he seemed remarkably calm about his new surroundings and very good for R to work with.

River was in a good mood today, and we had a nice session together.

We worked in the outdoor arena, on general "review" of yields and such, practiced a pattern we might do for an online show, and then I rode him for a while.

It was such a nice evening, no bugs, cool but not cold, no wind. Very nice.

We came home and watched more "Breaking Bad".

I learned that bamboo forests often are one clonal plant. They have life cycles (depending on the species) of 40-80 years where all of the plants in one colony flower, make fruit all at once, then die, leaving huge areas of dead bamboo.

When this happens, the attraction of all the fruit can result in huge infestations of rats, and loss of food for animals like Pandas.

Waiting... for the news that the siding is done at last. Then I can relax a bit.

Tomorrow I'm going to put a dot of liquid nails on each corner of the basement bawth ceiling fan cover and stick it up once again. It fell off sometime in the summer (I do not use this room often) and has been sitting on the counter ever since. That's getting close to doinkery.
