Oct. 29th, 2023 12:15 amToday I am grateful for:
A quiet day at home. It's weird without my husband since he's been home for the last two months, but I'll figure it out.
I spoke with Sister S, who recently sold her tax/accounting business. She's still got a lot of paperwork to do to transfer the business to the new owner, then she has to do the taxes for the business one last time, as well as her own normal taxes.
I spoke with Trainwreck, and for sure it's awful. Now there is a doctor who thinks that she is having trouble with her lungs not deflating properly. I've never heard of that, but I looked it up and it's a thing.
So, she's just sick and sleeps too much, and so on.
She has made a friend in the lodge, and I guess they're kind of looking out for each other.
Trainwreck says her regular doctor said something along the lines of "you could just go to sleep and not wake up", which sounded accurate to me given how things are going. Trainwreck was all like "I really didn't need to hear that", but I felt like it's important for her to understand that perhaps things have really come to this.
Maybe no one really WANTS to hear it, but it's something to think about, in case there was anything left unsaid or personal affairs that need to be in order.
I went outside and puttered. It was overcast and cool and a bit windy, but I can't stay inside all day.
I took apart some pallets that came with the cubes of cedar chips, because we are more likely to use the boards that way. Then I stacked them behind the garage.
I picked up pony poop, let the animals out for a while, sat with the goats and ponies and enjoyed being with them as they grazed, and went for a pasture walk with Roxy.
Then I came inside, and fixed up a winter horse blanket. Mostly it needed some rings put on, for where you clip straps.
I also talked with my Sweetie for a while, to see how things are going with his visit. He and his parents went to visit an aunt/uncle today to do some things like change tires to winter ones and move heavy things around.
Mount Vesuvius is a very active volcano to this day, and has indeed erupted many times since it famously destroyed Pompeii 2000 years ago. There are still about 600,000 people living in the "red zone" at it's base.
