Sunny today, which made it a lot less gloomy feeling than yesterday's overcast skies. It was also still reasonably mild, just barely below zero.
How spending time with River can be such a mood booster, especially when we have a good day like today.
Of course, when I showed up, the horses were still eating, but I watched River for a few minutes, and he seemed to be done eating, so I felt okay about taking him away from what was left of the hay.
R was working with one of her horses in harness, so it was fun to watch them have a fun spin around the outdoor arena (footing is still good where it is sand).
I felt like River's attention was with me today, unlike the last couple of sessions where it felt like his thoughts were elsewhere.
We rode in the outdoor for a while, which was nice as it was a pretty nice day for it.
Then we worked in the indoor arena. I mucked around for a while with the obstacles that were still up. Then we did some Liberty work from the ground. He was focused and in a good mood today, and I really enjoyed our session.
I remembered to bring my speakers with me today, so it was nice having tunes.
I came home and chatted with my Sweetie about his day. His parents live in a condo building where you can use a big common room downstairs for bigger gatherings. They invited all the family that could come (lots live fairly close by) and they had a fun night of playing cards and visiting. It sounds like he had a good time, and I'm glad they all got together. So much easier than my husband trying to see them all separately.
Then I read for a while. I recently bought a collector's set of the "Game of Thrones" books, so I'm going to re-read them. I really love how good the writing is for this series; I wish George had finished it properly.
I learned that in 1956, France banned the serving of alcohol to children under the age of 14 in the school canteens. Prior to that, school children had the right to drink half a litre of wine, cider or beer with their meals. In 1981 France implemented a total alcohol ban in the country’s schools.
