Nov. 3rd, 2023 10:52 pmToday I am grateful for:
Fairly mild weather, a little above freezing and sunny.
A good phone conversation with my Mom, where she seemed like she was in a good mood.
I've been trying to sort out an issue that River had the last time he got his teeth floated, and it's kind of a mess because I don't think the vet who worked on him (who is a personal friend of R's: red flag) was honest with me about the situation.
I'm trying to sort it all out with this other vet, that I haven't used before, so that we understand what REALLY happened the last time, so that we can float his teeth this time, and hopefully have a good, safe outcome.
I went to see River. It looked like he had a good chance to eat hay before we worked today.
I rode him in the outdoor arena, worked on spirals and other circle type work, as well as our yields. He was in a good frame of mind overall.
Then we did a bit more work in the indoor arena once it was dark, and he did well.
I worked with the "project" horse (his name is Quidley) during the other rider's lesson, and worked on an issue he has with being led from the right side of his body (it is often the case that many people do all of the leading from the left side, as that is an old holdover to military times, but then neglect to do any leading or handling on the right side). He is SUPER uncomfortable having someone lead on the right, so we worked on that, and he did relax a lot after a bit of correction.
My Sweetie had a nice day, from the sound of things. He and his parents went to a big, fancy greenhouse in the afternoon mainly just to walk around and enjoy the greenery.
Then my Sweetie met up with the adult children of his sister and had a really good evening with them while his parents stayed home.
I learned that mild bell peppers were only developed in the 1920's.
