Today I am grateful for:

A very nice day, a little above zero and sunny.

My friend from the city came out to bring her little dog and bunny out to vacation with us while she goes to be with her mother in what is likely the last days/weeks of her life.

It's nice that she came out, though I am sorry for the circumstances.

We set up a nice, big pen for her bunny in the semi-finished mud room in the addition. We are able to keep him completely separate from our animals there, in peace and quiet.

She brought all of the supplies, and we went through the care for them together.

We introduced Roxy to Rocky (the little dog) outside, where they would feel like they had room to get to know each other while also having distractions of nice things to smell. They did very well with each other, with no aggression.

We walked around the horse pasture, and my friend got to meet the horses, ponies, and goats.

My friend has had issues with short term memory and for lack of a better term, mental disorganization since she has had several severe concussions over the years. It also becomes anxiety for her, as she is worried about forgetting something. She talks a lot, and the energy is kind of draining after a while because you really want to help her feel better, but it's just how she is now.

That said, I enjoyed her company, and she was very respectful of my time, which I appreciate. She showed up about when we agreed to meet, was well-prepared with regards to the animals, and we wrapped up about the time I needed to leave to go to the barn.

We did introduce her little dog Rocky to the cats, and overall I think they're going to be fine together. There was no hissing or aggression at all, only curiosity, and Rocky is not afraid of the cats, but also respectful of their space. He's very non-threatening.

The bunny (also named Bun or Mr.Bun) seems pretty content in his pen that we made for him. My friend brought the panels, and since I had a large, mostly empty room we made it as big as we could, and she feels like it will be enough for him so he doesn't have to be loose for more exercise.

I know it can't be easy for my friend to leave her animals with me for an undetermined length of time. She doesn't know how long she'll be away. It could easily be a month. At the same time, I'm glad I could help, because she had very little notice, and not many people could or would take them for that long.

I was able to send a few more bags of things I have been meaning to donate for some time, and never got around to doing it. She can drop it off at a thrift store on her way. I told her to look through it, and keep whatever she wanted, and she fell in love with a pair of bunny slippers that I was given quite a while ago that weren't my jam. I'm glad they delight her.

I went to see River, and my Sweetie met me there on his way home from work.

I got there a little later than usual, so I tried to be concise with our work, but I think I still managed to cover all our bases well. It's actually good, because sometimes I know I make our sessions too long, and test his patience.

He seems to be doing well with the "circle away", so the next step is to get it at the trot.

Spanish walk is a work in progress; probably for quite a while.

We did some ridden work, trotting and canter over poles, and he did well.

When it was time for the lesson for the girl with lots of challenges, we finished up with River and turned him out. Then my Sweetie took his vehicle and went home.

I stayed to work with Quidley again during the other girl's lesson. A lot of what we're doing with him is a physiotherapy type exercises, meant to increase his strength and spatial awareness of his right hind leg, which is from issues with his nerves.

It was a good session.

I have been helping with the final evening clean up afterwards on Fridays too. I would feel weird just going home knowing that R still had to clean everything up for the night by herself.

I came home and we made supper, and watched "El Camino". It is a movie the picks up at the end of "Breaking Bad" and ties up some of the loose ends. It's a good movie.

We had Rocky in the general population and he's doing fine. He's actually pretty happy with my husband and I, and will cuddle up and sleep with either one of us.

I spent some time just sitting with Mr.Bun, letting him get used to me. My friend said that he's not particularly social, so I'll keep my expectations reasonable. He at least doesn't seem too afraid of me.

I learned that Hermione Bladdley was nominated for an Oscar in a supporting role in the film "Room at the Top". It holds the record for the shortest screen time for an Oscar nomination; she was on screen for just over two minutes total in the whole film.
