Nov. 23rd, 2023 09:57 pmToday I am grateful for:
That my body feels better. As I said before, I was having a lot of sciatica type pain in my hips and legs. First it was one leg, then the other.
My focus today is cleaning up the living room/dining room area (kind of two rooms that are open almost like one room) that has just gotten cluttered from nothing being put away all summer.
A lot of it is just being put in the basement, or back upstairs where I store my art/craft supplies.
I put several moving boxes out in the garage so that they can go to the ReStore (they often have people looking for moving boxes), and if that fails, they'll go somewhere else.
I am putting together a box of stuff again for my husband to take with him to work, and he can hopefully drop it off somewhere on his way home.
He helped me when he came home from work; taking boxes upstairs or to the basement. It didn't take too long, but it's always better with help.
I got a text from my friend (it's her animals we're looking after). She will be about another week before she's back.
I can't help but think that she really would have been up shit creek if I hadn't offered to care for her animals. I don't know of very many people who would take a dog and a rabbit on zero notice for three weeks.
Well, mostly I want the animals to be safe.
Bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas. Bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas, bananas.
I did some other things too. More laundry, I did the dishes, I dumped a pail of the litter from the bunny, as well as changed the cat litter. I still had my usual chores to do outside.
A busy day, but I feel good about the progress made in the living room/dining room. I want it cleaned up partly because a woman from pottery is coming out on Saturday to pick up some wood for crafting from my husband, and she might come in for a while.
Also, I do often make an effort to clean it all up for the holidays. It would be kind of depressing for Christmas to have everything all cluttered up. So, it gets cleaned up at least once a year.
I really think that's part of the point of winter holidays, is to give you a reason to try to spruce things up a bit, to bring out some decorations, and not just rot inside during the cold weather, but have something to look forward to that motivates you to do something.
So, Saturday is shaping up to be a day of moving things out the door. We hopefully have someone from the ReStore coming with a truck to pick up the last of the old windows, some laminate flooring, those moving boxes, and whatever else we can think of that they might use.
A woman from pottery is coming to look through our odds and ends of wood to see what she can use; she does some wood working with her Dad, and they use small pieces of board to cut out shapes and they paint them to make decorations. We have lots of that kind of thing.
I also posted some old wooden kitchen chairs on buy/sell for free, and a woman might come take them on Saturday.
It would be nice to see a lot of things move on to their next home.
My Trainwreck sister called, mostly to freak out at me about how screwed up her life is. How thoughtful of her to call.
So, a good day of getting things cleaned up a bit, and it feels like progress. The best part is that I didn't feel overwhelmed by it all, like I often do. I just felt good about getting it done.
I learned that there is not a single Taco Bell in Mexico.
