Dec. 6th, 2023 10:49 pmToday I am grateful for:
Not having to go somewhere the instant I got up. That's nice.
A short phone conversation with Sister E. Mostly talked about Trainwreck, and various animals.
I went to see River, and that was nice. We had a lesson today.
I chatted with R's husband K for a while before my lesson, while River was eating.
The other person did not have a lesson before me today, so no waiting around for her to take a hint and wrap things up. I think she might be done lessons for the winter?
Our lesson went well. We spent a fair bit of time working on target training principles, hoping to use this to train the Spanish Walk.
Then we collaborated with R to put together a riding pattern that she wants to use for a fun competition later in the year. It wasn't exactly a lesson for me, but I guess it was kind of...um...getting to use my knowledge to plan a pattern and get it all laid out so that it worked, people ended up stopping facing the judge, visibility of the movements, symmetry, with an understanding of different skill levels?
I guess it was still fun, so there's that.
The two kids who have a lesson after me were there. They are from a family who were recent immigrants, and they celebrate Saint Nicholas Day, which sounds a lot like Christmas, involving things you get in your shoe if you're good, or bad.
I came home and visited with my Sweetie for a short while when he came home, then he went to bed around 9 pm.
I got a phone call from Trainwreck, that I normally wouldn't have answered past about 9 pm (because she's usually drunk, so I don't pick up the phone if she calls that late), but it's her birthday. Sigh.
So, yes she was drunk, and pretty much just rambling on about how sick she is, and she's probably going to die, and more or less that "everyone is sick and throwing up, so it isn't just me", or whatever.
I just let her talk, and after a while she had to "go to sleep" (pass out) so, there. Fun for everyone.
I learned about an incident that seems a bit insane, but was a really weird, random thing that probably helped break up Yugoslavia.

Date: 2023-12-08 04:35 am (UTC)Number one was the best as those are the best ways to start the day I think.
I have friends in the Netherlands who celebrate the whole shoe thing too. I really think other countries have more holidays or double up on them secretly somehow compared to the rest of the world!
