Good sleep again.
I got the Christmas cards mailed. It takes me about a month to get them made, the envelopes all addressed, and so on. It IS meant to give me something to do in the dark nights of winter, but it is also something I like being done with, as I often can't pursue my usual painting while it's in progress.
I generally paint a little painting for the front panel of each of them, all the same scene, but they end up being slightly different anyhow.
Nice to get that done.
Then I went to see River, and it was a bit windy, and there are all kinds of tarps in the yard around the horse pens covering bales and so on, so all of them were snapping and flapping. River was okay with it, but it's a lot to ask sometimes.
We worked with R as she worked with one of her horses.
River did really well today with transferring "touch the pool noodle with your nose" to "now touch it with your leg". It's our different approach to teaching the Spanish Walk, since the other method wasn't working at all.
We also worked on getting a good trot from a halt first on the ground, and then ridden. Also a good halt from a canter in ridden.
He's loving all the extra treats he's getting with the target training with the pool noodle.
Then I stayed to work with Quidley while the other woman had her lesson.
This person (who I will call H) communicates with sign language, and R knows some, and I know pretty much nothing. H is making it clear that I need to learn more so we can talk better with her. It must be so frustrating to have so few people to talk with.
Mostly I worked with Quidley being comfortable just standing at the mounting block again. He is doing much better with it; he had a lot of anxiety about it, and would fidget and fuss and want to "leave".
We did some of the basic yields and other in-hand work.
Then I helped clean up the barn for the night.
By the time I got home, my Sweetie had supper made (yay!) and we watched a movie called "Four Days in September", which was a pretty good movie based on the real events in Brasil.
I forgot to mention that we watched "The Thomas Crown Affair" last night. It is one of our favorite movies. The version with Pierce Brosnan. So good!
I learned that in response to idiots who ban or burn controversial books, a limited edition of "The Handmaid's Tale" has been released. On material that won't burn.

Just daydreamed the other day that if I ever had to be intubated, How would I communicate and remembered that I could use at least spell out words in sign language and hoping the paramedics could understand. I think that it's special that she wants to communicate with you. She see something in you that she wants to know you more.
