Dec. 20th, 2023 01:33 amToday I am grateful for:
Continued mild weather.
People are nibbling on a few items I have listed on Marketplace, hopefully someone will get serious and commit. I try to keep on top of things that have value but we no longer require.
I called the vet clinic to come see one of our goats. Brownie has had some blood on her vulva, and no she's not bred, and it's not a normal thing with their cycles. The vet that saw the goats before was able to come today, which is great.
He figures it is a false pregnancy, and gave her some hormones. I truly hope it's that simple. He did do an ultrasound because the blood could have been from her urethra, relating to kidney issues, but he saw nothing that would point to stones or crystals or an infection.
That's all I can do for now, hopefully it's enough.
Afterwards, I went to see River.
We did some ground work while R was riding Quidley, the project horse. It's good for Quidley to be worked around another horse, to make sure he can stay focused with the extra distraction.
He did pretty well.
River did well today too. He's still confused with "away" circle vs. "draw" circle, but we worked on it and he is remembering the draw.
He is now offering vigorous pawing in response to the request for Spanish walk, which is good progress. I am asking now for him to hold the leg up longer instead of pawing, and he's beginning to get it.
He is a little too excited about any work involving treats though. I would like to not have to use them at all because of this, but the Spanish Walk wasn't going to happen at all without them, methinks.
He did well in our ridden work. He got a little concerned about being asked to trot right from a halt, but got over it. He did one very good halt from the canter.
His circles around the pylons felt "bendier".
I came home and my Sweetie was already home.
He did some very useful shopping on his way home from work. He picked up more dog food (he actually noticed we were low!) and picked up the mail. He picked up burritos for supper. He even did the dishes and changed the cat litter!
He did all of this so that we would have time to watch a movie together, instead of me coming home and having to do things like wash dishes and make supper etc.
I really appreciate this kind of practical thoughtfulness that makes life nicer.
We watched "The Lost City" with Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock, which is a really fun movie. It's more or less an updated version of "Romancing the Stone", and is a great, silly movie.
I learned that not only did Amelia Earhart disappear and was presumed dead, so was her copilot Fred Noonan.
Literally NO ONE ever mentions that there was a copilot who died with her.
