Dec. 22nd, 2023 12:12 amToday I am grateful for:
A nice, sunny winter day.
I sold one of the items I had listed on Marketplace. It was a kerosene space heater my husband inherited from his Grandfather, and it had been sitting in the garage for about ten years. It was a simple, straightforward transaction, and it's good to move it along.
It's nice to have the option to sell things. We can often hang onto things for far too long because we feel like they are "worth something". The ReStore didn't want it, a thrift store wouldn't take it, but it is in good condition, and it would have been a shame to throw it away. I don't even know if it got used more than a few times, and it still had the manuals and everything.
I did my normal chores and such, and spent some time with the goats and ponies out in their larger pasture, letting them paw for grass and run around a bit.
Then I walked around the pasture a few times with Roxy. By then it was mostly dark (shortest day of the year today) and the moon was already out by just after 5 pm. It is more than half full, and bright enough to cast shadows. Lovely.
I went inside and had a bath, and shortly afterwards my Sweetie came home.
We brought the artificial trees in (one large, one small) and set them up in the living room. I gave Hans some time to climb around on the big tree and get bored with it before decorating. I might do that later tonight.
Then we watched an episode of "The Expanse". I watched the entire season last winter, but he hasn't seen it. An episode isn't too long, so he can watch that and still get to bed at a reasonable time.
I learned that the Rockefeller tree is used to make lumber which is donated to Habitat For Humanity. Staff members of the Rockefeller Center donate time to help with the project using that lumber.
Personally, I wonder why they can't just tear up some concrete and plant a tree, and at some point it is tall enough to use every year.
