Today I am grateful for:

Gorgeous weather.

Not sleeping TOO late (for me) so we could go to the city in decent time.

More or less just a fun day for us.

We got a few small grocery items we needed for our "Christmas Tabbouleh Salad" that my husband makes for us. I picked up some cheese that apparently has coffee in it. Something to try, anyhow.

Then we walked around the mall for a while, and there was an actual music store, and I found a CD I've been looking for.

It was an older mall, and had mostly cheaper chains in it, but the nice thing was, it also was likely cheap enough rent that some local businesses could afford to be there too.

Then we went to the Legislative grounds (the Provincial government buildings and the surrounding park), which SHOULD have had some kind of nice Christmas display of lights or something, because we thought it would be pretty.

It had almost nothing at all. Just a few wrapped tree trunks. There were literally normal people's yards that had more impressive light displays.

So, while that was disappointing, we did walk around the park for a while which was just a nice place to walk in the evening.

Then we had supper at a slightly upscale vegan place, and lucked out because they had their battered mushrooms on the menu (they don't always have the same things available because they try to source as local as possible). My Sweetie had a vegan shepherd's pie with cranberry sauce, and it was spiced in such a way that it almost tasted like stuffing. So good.

A quick nip into the used book store. We even got a "friends and family" discount for Christmas because the store owner recognizes us as being solid regulars. I really try to go there often, because they are a good store, and I want to see them thrive.

Then we went to a live performance of "Die Harsh", an absolutely hilarious spoof of "Die Hard" where Hans "Shluber" is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and near future. It was a musical, and there was some dancing, and it was all really well done.

It was so nice of my husband to put so much effort into today to make it "Christmas-y" and fun.

I learned that M&M's did not want to be featured in the film E.T., so Spielberg used Reese's pieces instead, which turned out to be an enormously good decision.
