Today I am grateful for:

Still nice weather.

Good for the farrier, who came today to do the horses here at home.

Everyone behaved very well, so that was nice. It was also nice to chat with the farrier.

Not much else happened today. I was still tired and mentally out of sorts from trying to talk to my husband last night.

I did talk with Sister E for a while, it sounds like they had lots of driving to do over Christmas to visit various homes. I guess I don't miss that part of living near family.

My husband came home, and I tried to talk with him again, this time more about making some kind of actual plan for doing some of the larger, scarier projects that still must be done at some point.

Yes, of course he's still been doing things, like putting up a hand rail on some steps, fixing a light fixture. Yet, those are pretty small, single day projects. While they are good to get done too, we have projects that will indeed take weeks and weeks of work, that still shouldn't be abandoned because of that scope. They have now been left for YEARS, because they are daunting, but they won't be less daunting if we leave them another couple of years, will they?

Thus, they must be faced.

He's certainly not happy to have to do something about those things, but I cannot live with almost half of our potential living space being sealed off and left for dead.

So, that's about it. That's all today was. Just a day of mostly being exhausted and angry and not getting resounding support.

I learned that in the original Addams Family series, "Thing" was played by Ted Cassidy (who also played "Lurch"). Usually "Thing" was a right hand, but sometimes Ted would use his left hand just to see if anyone noticed.

I didn't notice the thing about Thing.

For some people, talking about a big project is almost the same as doing it, and it gets shelved for years. It is maddening.

And sometimes, a project is very small, and talking about that is the same as doing it. (I pressed to the point of being obnoxious to get a puppy-dug hole in the back yard filled. It was filled only a few days ago.)

Keep at it!
