Today I am grateful for:

Sunshine, after a few overcast days.

A shortish conversation with Sister E, talked about Roxy's leg a bit.

I'm pretty bummed out about this. I have no idea if there's a chance of her leg healing on it's own or not, or if surgery is pretty much inevitable. I don't know if the wait period suggested by the vet is helpful, or if it is just putting strain on her other leg.

I did some dishes before I went to the barn.

River did well today. He was in a good mood, and had good focus.

I spoke with R about Roxy, as their dog had the surgery for ACL last summer. She is willing to share any information she has about how things went for them.

I rode with just the neck rope today, and did a bit of work on the pattern with the pylons, and his turns at the trot were not fantastic, but he did do a very good halt from a canter.

I stayed to work with Quidley, with the girl who has challenges. R and I are both learning some sign language to better communicate with her, so far I've got about a third of the alphabet.

I'm sure this girl thinks we're pretty slow learners, as it is a tough thing to learn when you have no one to practice with. She is very fluid signing, and I am like "A, b, c".

I guess if nothing else, it is just to show her that I care enough to try.

Quidley did well. He's SO different from River, in that he is VERY sensitive, and offers a LOT of just random movement when you ask for something, to the point where I don't know what to reward. He's just trying to do SOMETHING, but he needs to slow down and pay attention.

At least he seems less nervous when we begin our session. Before, he would be obviously anxious about things, and now he's a bit more relaxed. Hopefully he knows that the work at this barn with R and everyone under her supervision is going to be kind and more fun than he's likely used to.

I came home and my Sweetie came home shortly after. We watched an episode of "The Expanse", and he did not do anything on the house tonight.

I learned that Tecumseh, a Shawnee chief, warrior, and diplomat created an inter-tribal confederacy named Prophetstown to secure a nation that would be given the same rights, respect, and freedom as Canada and America. He died fighting during the war of 1812 before his dream nation became a reality.

The challenge of trying to unite many diverse tribes (who were often enemies) with different language across great distances was amazing to think that he even tried, but he was close to creating some kind of nation when he died.
