Jan. 11th, 2024 10:56 pmToday I am grateful for:
That I didn't have to go anywhere today, in the very cold weather that we now have.
I changed Wonder's blanket, and paid her some attention.
I did other chores, and spent some time with the goats in the garage, allowing them to move around a bit in a larger area. They are in small pens most of the time, so I try to let them out for a while into a bigger, cleared back area.
Roxy's feet are too cold almost the instant she goes outside to go to the bathroom, so it's not too awful that she is a on restricted movement right now.
When I was sitting with the goats in the garage, I thought I would check up on Trainwreck, though it is generally not that rewarding, today being no exception.
She was feeling pretty depressed because there is nothing to do (well, that's true for most of us in the heart of winter), and really she was just whining and whining about being bored.
She's probably forgotten that last year at this time, she was in her shitty trailer, calling me up and crying because she couldn't find a way out of having to live there, with no water or bathroom, out in the middle of nowhere alone, and terrified of having something happen to the furnace or the electricity if it stormed, and worried about her old vehicle breaking down on the side of the road or the tires giving out, or not having money for gas, or having no one bring her a jerry can of fuel all the time (she relied on people bringing her fuel when she would sometimes limp home on a nearly empty tank because she didn't have the money to fill it when she was in town, then she would be stuck out in her trailer with no gas to get to town unless someone would buy it for her out of pity and bring it to her).
So, this year she is in a safe, warm place with running water and a nice bathroom. There are people all around her if she needs anything, she doesn't have to drive anywhere if she doesn't want to, is within minutes of the grocery store or the local restaurant, the library, the drop in center, the movie theater and a local bar. The building she is in also has a common room with a little pool table in it, and people often play cards. She made a friend or two there.
So she's bored. Poor thing.
I get it that she's sick all the time. That would suck, but it would suck worse if she was still in her trailer.
She whined and whined and whined, and I kind of forced her to actually give a shit about me and my week, because dammit, my week has been pretty difficult.
Anyhow. Whatever.
I came inside, did the dishes, changed the sheets, and started supper.
My Sweetie came home and we visited and ate, and we went downstairs together and put up one more sheet of drywall, as well as added more insulation to a window opening that we still didn't install the window but have kind of a secure door over it. We are still using that opening for putting building materials into the basement as needed. Another reason why it will be nice to have all of that finished, so we can finally have a nice window there.
Then we watched another episode of "The Expanse".
So, a quiet day, which is fine by me.
I learned about the Antimony Pill; used to "revitalize the bowels". It would be used by someone, um, retrieved later, hopefully rinsed off, ready to be used again.
