Today I am grateful for:

Such beautiful weather for this time of year. It was somewhere around only -6 C today.

It's supposed to get even warmer in the next few days, and I guess I should be used to these wild swings in temperature since we've had them other winters, but it seems nuts to have -40C then two weeks later to have zero C.

Another shorter call with Sister E. Today she was working with church ladies putting together chicken pot pies. Not sure what for, but it sounded like she was enjoying herself.

I have not noticed any more blood on Brownie's backside, so hopefully the vet was correct (a few weeks ago when he came out, he said it was false pregnancy and gave her a shot of hormones, and said it should clear up). She seems fine otherwise, eating and acting normally, so hopefully that's all it was. It was pretty distressing to see blood around her vulva, because goats do not have menstrual blood or any other reason to have blood back there that is healthy.

With Roxy it is still wait and see about her leg. I wouldn't say it's worse, and when she walks around outside she's putting weight on it. She still favors it a bit, mostly I notice it after she's been lying down.

I did go see River today, and it was noticeable that the day was longer. Usually by the time I go to the barn it's dark, but now it is still light out when I get there.

R used him to model a set of harness she is selling, the potential buyers wanted to see it on a heavier type horse (her horses are mostly Saddlebreds).

He did okay today. He was more forward in our Liberty circles. I did a different exercise that used his side pass skills.

He was a bit stiffer again in our circles around the pylons.

Overall good attitude and willingness.

I came home and talked to my Sweetie about what we are doing with the mud room. I have been wanting a proper utility sink in there, so he looked at sinks from Ikea. It's not a bad option, but I still want to look at sinks from restaurant supply places.

So, that's the house progress today, looked at stuff.

I learned that there is still a living member of the Von Trapp family that the film "the Sound of Music" portrayed.

The Von Trapps are (were) a pretty interesting bunch - but I've fused the real family to the Sound of Music actors.

The only character I found odious in that movie was Rolf. Did anyone like Rolf?

I looked around the cellar (the cold room) this week and found, aside from five huge bins of electrical adaptors and wires, a couple of bags of ceramic tiles I bought a long, long time ago for the kitchen of the first house. There's no use for them, but they're pretty. Part of me wants to hang on to them because there are five bins of old cut-up wire that's not mine, and having these tiles evens the score. The other part of me, the wiser part, says that there is no need to match a deviant collecting habit, and out they go, into the charity box.

Not my domain. If asked:

1) Yes, all of it is necessary to keep
2) No, and I determine what will be kept
3) It's all recyclable, and I decide when it goes

It might be fun to put the contents of four bins into seven bins so as to create the illusion of more hooey.

All aforementioned trash was slated for eventual departure, certainly, but you never know.

The tiles are decorative, but I can't see any use for them anywhere.
