Today I am grateful for:

Gorgeous weather.

My husband got the X-terra running, which is good. We're likely going to sell it, or something, and that's sad for both of us. It was our first vehicle together when we left for Wyoming back in 2000, and it has taken us many miles and we have lots of memories with it.

I don't really WANT to let it go, but we've already done lots of work on it, and these days the interior smells of dead mice. It uses too much fuel for a commuter/every day vehicle, but we don't need it for "truck stuff" either. Hopefully it can go on as a vehicle for someone else, or even useful parts. They don't go on forever.

I don't want to have a yard with a row of old vehicles in it. There's no point. If they aren't driven and maintained, in a very short time they stop running, and deteriorate quickly. At least right now, the X-terra runs, and could work for someone else.

I was very nervous that the guy who wants to try to work on our windows wouldn't show up. He texted that he would be a bit late, but he did show up.

He brought the finished chairs, and I paid him. It's reasonable for the work that I know it took to strip something like four separate layers of paint from them, fix some broken pieces, and oil finish.

He talked with us about the windows, and how we would like them finished. I am willing to do whatever painting or stain is required if he just does the carpentry.

What we agreed upon, is that he would do one small window in the bathroom first, and we would go from there as to whether or not it's what we want, and how long it took him to do the work. We have MANY windows that need finishing, and if it takes him more than a couple of hours per window that's pretty pricey.

He seems cheerful and eager to work, confident that he can DO the work, and from our conversation today seems to understand what we're looking for.

I explained that I have a "night owl" sleep schedule, and that I would find a way to make this work, but that sometimes he would be working in the house while I was still asleep (or trying to sleep). I'm not sure that he really gets how extreme I am, but we'll try to figure it out.

He's coming on Tuesday in the morning to work on the bathroom (which is somewhat separated so he doesn't have to come into the main part of the house).

I went to see River, and it was wonderful that it's so warm today. Nice to work with him and not have to wear so much bulk.

He was SO SLEEPY today, that I felt kind of bad for making him do something, but really, it's not so bad. I did start with just doing some stretching and such. We did our Liberty work, very, very, slowly.

He actually did okay today on the turn on hindquarters to the Right that he was resisting so much the last couple of sessions. Slow, but steady. Before he was just doing two steps then stopping, and not really wanting to do it.

So, I was able to reward him by leaving it alone after he did it fairly well.

I did ride, and he was bending nicely. I focused on my own body, trying to make sure I was being clear.

The Sunday rider was there, and we chatted. Her big, goofy dog was there too. He's a sweetheart.

I came home and my Sweetie was working on getting the legs under the cabinets in the mud room, as the plumber is coming back tomorrow (after nearly a month after them saying they needed a simple part) and they have to be at the right height so he knows where the sink will sit.

I helped him, didn't take long (he'd already cut them to the right length).

Then we watched the first episode of "Boardwalk Empire", which was pretty good.

This is an addition to doing a country, I got side tracked by the Bosphorus Straight, a waterway that passes between Turkey and Bulgaria, and connects the Black Sea to basically the rest of the world. It's INCREDIBLY important to the countries that border the Black Sea, and right now is very important because of the war in the Ukraine.

Albania is beside North Macedonia, yesterday's country.

"Spanning an area of 28,748 km2 (11,100 sq mi), it displays a varied range of climatic, geological, hydrological and morphological conditions. The country's landscapes range from rugged snow-capped mountains in the Albanian Alps and the Korab, Skanderbeg, Pindus and Ceraunian Mountains, to fertile lowland plains extending from the coasts of the Adriatic and Ionian seas."

Was once the Illyrian Kingdom, the dominant power in the region before the rise of Macedonia. Was annexed by Rome, after the fall of Rome became part of the Byzantine Empire, formed an independent kingdom of Albania, then became part the Ottoman Empire.

Then after the fall of the Ottoman Empire in "1912, when the modern Albanian state declared independence. In 1939, Italy invaded the Kingdom of Albania, which became Greater Albania, and then a protectorate of Nazi Germany during World War II.[9] Following the war, the People's Socialist Republic of Albania was formed, which lasted until the Revolutions of 1991 concluded with the fall of communism in Albania and eventually the establishment of the current Republic of Albania."

It has gone from being a monarchy, to being communist, to having a sovereign parliamentary constitutional republic. So, the Prime Minister largely has most of the power, and there is also a President.

it is a developing country with decent income levels based largely on the service industry with some manufacturing and lots of tourism, as well as oil deposits.

Though the country itself is secular with no national religion, there are lots of Muslim and Christian people there.

There is this one island that belongs to Albania, Sazan Island, that is very important from a military standpoint as it is right at the entrance to the Bay of Vlore, and was used by Cold War era Russia as a military base for it's submarines. Today it is unoccupied.

I think it's interesting to note that Albania was a very strong contender for being the designated homeland for the Jewish people; Israel.
