Today I am grateful for:

That it truly feels like Spring today. I'm not sure how far you can trust it, as it is only March, but it's beautiful.

Feeling like I got some solid sleep last night, back in our regular bed.

Nice to enjoy the house without the sound of power tools.

I went to see River today. Our work was okayyyy, but he was sleepy and unmotivated over all.

I am still always grateful to have him, and it's nice to spend time with him. I appreciate that he's in good condition, and overall our partnership is much better than it used to be.

The girl with health issues did come for her lesson, and I did work with Quidley.

Quidley has been a bit sore, so I didn't do a lot with him today. Some of the usual yields and groundwork (I don't ride him, R does).

I did decide to let him play with the big beach ball, which he enjoys, and the smaller "jolly ball" that is meant for equines to grab and toss around.

I came home and my Sweetie cooked, and we caught up on each other's day, then watched an episode of "Boardwalk Empire".

I've been pondering a bit about the handy man, in that he told me an uncomfortable amount about his financial issues, which I feel shouldn't interfere with our decisions about the house.

I don't like that on some level, there is the implication that we "have money" and he "does not", which I am sensitive about because I have to deal with that feeling a lot because of my family.

While I certainly do want to hire him to continue to do some work on the house, it must be clear that we do not OWE him employment or more money than we feel like paying for the work.

I hope to keep a clear boundary between his personal life and the work he does for us.

Croatia is a country with a lot of coastline on the Adriatic Sea, and has something like 1100 islands.

It was part of Roman Illyria, then it became the Kingdom of Croatia. It formed a union with Hungary in 1100.

This region was in a fairly low intensity but ever present war with the Ottoman Empire.

" In October 1918, the State of Slovenes, Croats, and Serbs, independent from Austria-Hungary, was proclaimed in Zagreb, and in December 1918, it merged into the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Following the Axis invasion of Yugoslavia in April 1941, most of Croatia was incorporated into a Nazi-installed puppet state, the Independent State of Croatia. A resistance movement led to the creation of the Socialist Republic of Croatia, which after the war became a founding member and constituent of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. On 25 June 1991, Croatia declared independence, and the War of Independence was successfully fought over the next four years."

These days, Croatia is Democratic, has a decent economy, has oil and gas revenues, and tons and tons of tourism.

There are many museums and libraries, and culture everywhere, with 15 "intangible cultural elements" protected by UNESCO.

One of these is the beautiful singing style of Croatia called Klapka:
