Today I am grateful for:

Beautiful summer weather.

Having another short session with Dandy, and he was in a larger area and still came to me and did some liberty circles.

I went to see River, and we worked in the indoor arena because it rained last night, so the outdoor arena was too wet.

It was a bit like being in a steam sauna in the indoor. It was pretty airless and humid. Then River pooped, and it was like being Dutch ovened. Wow.

So I opened some of the ventilation flaps and that helped a bit.

We went through the freestyle once, and that went well.

The "four pylons pattern" is pretty bad overall. We keep working on the elements of it to make it better, and I guess we're making progress, but it's a weird pattern.

Overall I feel like he stayed with me well and focused.

His breathing was okay too, even though it was warmer. Maybe because of the rain last night?

Then I worked with Quidley for a while. I got the opportunity to work with him at liberty because R and the girl with health challenges went outside, so I worked with him in the arena alone. He pooped too, and I got gassed again.

He is a very willing and eager horse; he tries so hard. It's so sad to me that he has a neurological condition that affects the movement in his hind legs, which might not get worse, but might leave him unable to walk properly if anything changes. He's a really sweet horse.

Then I helped R set up a canopy thing she bought for the show, and it went up fairly easily. Then we took it down and put it away again.

I came home and we watched "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare" which is somewhat based on true events, though I am sure they are taken to a very glamorous level. It was a great movie. I will say though, the whole "who doesn't love to see Nazis get killed" thing is getting played really heavily in action movies.

I get it, I don't like them either, but isn't it a slippery slope to keep treating them in film as if every last one of them were heartless monsters and no longer human? Oh, and the Allies were all heroic, angelic saviors.

I'm not sure that it's true that every German person at that time was on board with the whole Nazi thing.
