Jul. 10th, 2024 03:57 amToday I am grateful for:
Not needing to do much outside today. I am VERY grateful that it wasn't this hot for the week with Patrick.
It was way too hot today.
Other than essential animal chores, I spent most of the day inside. I did some laundry and a bit of picking things up and putting them away, and painted my toe nails and ripped some fur off of my calves.
I put up some curtains in the living room to hopefully help a bit with the heat.
All day I fielded texts from dudes who REALLY WANT the old eaves troughs and down spouts that I posted for free, but no one yet has actually come up with a solid plan for coming to pick them up. It's getting tiresome.
It's strange to not see the X-Terra or the old truck or my husband's old Volkswagon in our yard anymore. We had the X-Terra for over 20 years and the truck for about 15 years, and the Volkswagon for maybe 12 years. My husband's current car (that he got over a year ago) is nice but a bit generic looking to me, and I can never pick it out in a parking lot.
I keep thinking the truck we got this year must be someone else's truck in our yard, like a contractor or something.
It's good to have the new to us vehicles, just takes some getting used to. We needed to replace the old ones, but it's a reminder of the passing of time, and with all three of them changed now, it feels like an end of an era, since the X-Terra was our first vehicle together.
I wanted to see River later in the day once it was a bit cooler, so I waited until my Sweetie got home, and we went together.
River was pretty warm, so I misted him in the barn before we did anything. I didn't ride him, just worked on Liberty stuff using some of the different ideas Patrick suggested for getting more energy and accountability from the horse.
I thought it went well. For all that it was hot and I knew River was tired, he wasn't too pokey.
When we were wrapping up, R came outside and we all ended up chatting, then a woman from the horse rescue showed up, and R's daughter L came out, and we all chatted.
We came home and I let everyone out into their pastures, put the water on the garden, and we watched an episode of "Justified".
I've been reading "Manhattan Beach" by Jennifer Egan and I'm really enjoying it.
