Jul. 21st, 2024 11:19 pmToday I am grateful for:
Waking up knowing that my Sweetie is home.
No rush to go anywhere or do anything, so he could have a day to decompress and we could just hang out together.
It was really nice to have the time just to go through his photos from his trip, to talk about everything he did and saw, look up the maps for everything, and so on. It was very interesting to talk about these places and what he noticed that was different culturally.
It was so crazy hot, we really couldn't manage anything else.
We still did normal chores, but that's it.
He also brought home some nice items from Sweden, and did his best to find things that were somehow representative, and made in Sweden where possible. Some things, like the nice socks, were something I expected because he always seems to get me socks. One pair was wool and hand made with Swedish motifs, the others were mass market but also had Swedish motifs. He got a pair of dish towels that were woven there; I will likely use them as place mats. He got a cute pair of small, handmade wooden Dala horses, which are a traditional item (he searched to find ones actually made there by artisans, rather than made in China knockoffs), and a very nice scarf that he found in a thrift store. I love that he found it in a thrift store!
When it cooled off a bit, we went to see River. It was too hot to work him very hard, so I did mainly groundwork.
R and her daughter L came out to work horses in the cooler part of the day too, and we chatted with them, mostly about Sweden.
Then we came home, and I let everyone out into their pastures and spent about an hour pulling massive weeds out of the garden again.
After that, I worked with Wonder and Dandy for a while.
Whew!
